Dawn M.
Nakash, MASI, CSMC
is Chief Operating and Administrative Officer of Daybreak Marketing Services, LLC,
an NC HUB (Historically Underutilized Business). Daybreak Marketing is a
registered vendor with New York’s Statewide System. Daybreak Marketing is the exclusive
promotional products distributor for a country-wide physician’s buying group
and holds a preferred vendor status with many large corporations. In addition to running her own business, Dawn
is an active volunteer in the local community, recognized for her dedication
and contributions to many local organizations. Dawn's business, Daybreak
Marketing Services, was established
in 1998.
An expert in providing
advertising specialties with a career that spans over 30 years, Dawn is a
promotion marketing specialist to corporate clients in business-to-business and
business-to-consumer environments. Dawn
has had careers in advertising and marketing since 1988 – as an out of home
advertising buyer for the Asbury Park Press and the Home News Tribune and then
as a Customer Service Manager and Advertising Sales Director with two leading
promotion and marketing firms.
Daybreak Marketing
Services
was started in a spare bedroom in Dawn’s home in November 1998, after the
promotion marketing firm she was employed by began to experience financial
strain and her client’s events and promotions were at risk. Since then, the company has grown and now
includes a vice president of sales & marketing, six senior account managers
and a part-time office administrator. Clients include George Harms Construction; Georgian
Court University; Reaves Asset
Management, Wake Forest Downtown, Town
of Wake Forest, Pierce Group Benefits and many others.
An active volunteer, Dawn is involved in
many community and business organizations. She was a two term President for the Monmouth-Ocean chapter of
New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners, where she served two terms
as President-Elect and also Vice President of Marketing. Dawn, along with a co-chair in 2005, brought
the holiday auction to new financial heights, making the most money in the
history of the chapter. Dawn also
held Board positions with NAWBO - Central
Jersey Chapter (VP of Marketing and Advertising Manager).
Dawn
is currently a member of the Advertising Specialty Institute (ASI) and received
her MASI (Master of Advertising Specialty Information). She is a Certified
Social Media Consultant (CSMC). She
currently holds a membership in Optimist International as a Lifetime member and
is associated with the Howell, NJ Optimist Club. Dawn is a Notary Public, commissioned by the
State of North Carolina.
Dawn is a former Board member for Wake Forest Downtown, Inc. and served
as board chair, vice chair and chair of the Events Committee (chairing every
Downtown event: Dirt Day, Charity Car Show, Lighting of Wake Forest). As the former chair of the Wake Forest, NC Downtown Charity Car Show
committee, Dawn was also the Social Media Editor. Dawn served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Wake Forest, NC Optimist Club, a position she held from 2012 to 2023. Dawn was a 2016 appointed member of the
Steering Committee for the Wake Forest
Renaissance Plan update. She has served as Secretary of the Board of
Trustees at Wake Forest United Methodist
Church (two consecutive 3-year
terms) and was a member at large for the Church Administrative Council. Dawn is the President of the Silo Glen
Property Owners Association, a
position she has held since 2017. Dawn
founded the Kars for Kids Charity
Car Show at The Market of Wake Forest. (now Wake Forest Charity Car Show). She is the Parade Manager for the Wake Forest July 4th Children’s
Parade. Dawn was recently elected
as Vice Chair of the Wake Forest
Community Council. She volunteers with Women on Target, a shooting
and safety clinic for women, sponsored by the NRA, with promotion and marketing
of the semi-annual events in the Triangle. Dawn is a former homework tutor at Wake Forest Boys & Girls Club. Dawn
is a past president of the Howell, NJ
Chamber of Commerce (2001-2003) and is a member of the Council of Past
President’s. She also serves on the
fundraising committee for the Georgian
Court University Scholarship Fund and Howell,
NJ Alliance for the Prevention of Drug & Alcohol Abuse. She is a former
Ambassador for the Wake Forest Area
Chamber of Commerce. Dawn is also past president and lifetime member of the
Howell, NJ Optimist Club, an
international civic organization that “brings out the best in kids.” She is a charter and founding member of the Jackson, NJ Optimist Club.
Dawn is a former Jackson, NJ
Planning Board and Environmental Commission member, and resident member of
the Economic Development Committee.
An award winner, in 2016, Dawn was awarded the Wake Forest Citizen of the Year and was
chosen to be honored by Emerging Women
NC as “the light and leadership style that illuminates the way for other
women”. Dawn was voted Club Woman of the Year in 2016 from the
membership of Wake Forest Woman’s Club. The Wake Forest Woman’s Club awarded
the Alline Johnson Wiggins award to
Dawn in 2015 and the Helen Saintsing
Johnston award in 2013. Dawn was
named Ambassador of the Month for
September 2012 and August 2013 for the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce. She was named the Optimist of the Year in 2012 by the Wake Forest Optimist Club. Her
finest accomplishment comes from being named NJBIZ’s 2008 New Jersey’s Best 50 Women in Business. She was also awarded
the 2008 National Association of Women
Business Owners – Central Jersey chapter Businesswoman of the Year. Dawn was a finalist in the Enterprising Women of the Year in 2007. She was named “Businesswoman of the Year” by the Monmouth-Ocean chapter of New
Jersey Association of Women Business Owners for 2006, and received the “Teal Heart Service Award” in 2005 from
the Monmouth/Ocean Chapter of NJAWBO for consistently going above and beyond
her responsibilities for the organization. Dawn accepted the “Community Service” award from the Central Jersey chapter of National Association of Women
Business Owners in 2006. Dawn was an ATHENA award nominee in 2007 and in
2005. Daybreak Marketing was named “Business
of the Year” in 2004 by the Howell Chamber of Commerce. As president of the
Howell Optimist Club, Dawn achieved Double
Distinguished President status in 2002. (In the club’s 25-year history,
this level of success was never achieved by another president, nor has it been
achieved since. She met specific
criteria in areas of membership growth and club building.)
Dawn and her husband,
Ken Nagy, formed Wake Forest Community Partners in 2024, a 501c3
charitable organization and raises critical funding that goes back into the
Wake Forest community through other non-profits to continue their missions.
Their primary fundraising is a Charity Car Show on the third Saturday in
September.
Dawn grew up in central New Jersey and now resides
in Wake Forest, NC with her husband, Ken Nagy.
She has three children – Anthony, 42 (retired from the U.S. Coast Guard,
married to Lindsay), Christopher, 39 (works for Naval Air Systems Command at the
Super Base Maguire-Fort Dix-Lakehurst, NJ) and Rebecca, 33 (a Master’s graduate
from NC State, living in Clayton, NC and married to Eddie). Dawn’s is a proud
“Mimi” to two granddaughters, Callahan and Skylar. Dawn enjoys reading, watching
Grey’s Anatomy and Suits and spending time with family and friends, old and new.
